I have been a longtime fan of the amazing Guy Bourdin.Hello! ….. what artist would not love the lush stylistic sexy 70’s shots with devine makeup and hair.
His shots were so provocative and sexy with murder, intrique and great sexuality yet polished, sensual and highly artistic.
Bourdin born in 1928 in Paris was one of the best known photographers of fashion and advertising of the second half of the 20th century. He shared Helmut Newton’s taste for controversy and stylization, but Bourdin’s formal daring and the narrative power of his images exceeded the bounds of conventional advertising photography. Shattering expectations and questioning boundaries, he set the stage for a new kind of fashion photography. Bourdin worked for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and shot ad campaigns for Chanel,Issey Miyake,Emanuel Ungaro,Gianni Versace to name a few.
Since his death, Guy Bourdin has been hailed as one of the greatest fashion photographers of all time, and his son Samuel Bourdin released a book with the finest prints of his father’s work, called “Exhibit A” in 2001 (co-edited with Fernando Delgado). His first retrospective exhibition was held at the Victoria& Albert Museum in London 2003, and then toured the National gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, and Jeu de Paume in Paris.
Makeup Artist Francois Nars has released his Guy Bourdin collection as an homage to the great man.
The blue/pink blusher is fabulous and the selection of pink and red nails twinned with lip.
I love the great packaging… (God is in the details!).
His style has been belovedly mimicked by many…a great compliment.
My favourite decade is the 70’s,it had an amazing freeflowing energy from the 60’s but was gearing up for the lunatic 80’s…that waiting place which I love. When fashion is awaiting change it sometimes puts out a very special original magic…
I love playing with the 70’s look…tropical heat!.

Designer Antony price was a lover of drama shot some great images with Jerry Hall, one of my favourite being for the band Roxy music.
She also did some great shots with Designer Thierry Mugler and was very famed for her gorgeous stylized shots…
Dior played with the look…Madonna likes to rock out her many looks and also played homage to Bourdin with Director Jean-Baptiste Mondino at the helm for her Holiday video.
I am also loving the work of Giampaolo Sgura…
And to mix it up with a floral baroque is my idea of heaven….it goes on and on.
